This beautifully primitive rendition displays log homes, sheep and blue birds perched on fences. A scattering of fruit and flowers in shades of red, pink, and coral add interest and color, while dark sage green vines form a beautiful border.

The penny rug is another legacy from the history of American design. The tradition dates back to about the time of the Civil War, when women would gather scraps of wool background. They would often stitch actual coins into the fabric to help hold it down. While commonly referred to as penny “rugs”, they were more often found on tabletops and walls as decorative elements. After extensive research into the tradition, Homespice Décor has adapted this beautiful technique to create lovely handmade penny rugs and wall coverings.
